InterFaith Relationships

Your generosity may also be expressed through donations of land for building Habitat houses.  We will finish building our Mesa Vista subdivision in 2012, so we are actively searching for new land to build on. Land acquisition can be by donation or a combination of donation with tax benefits and money.  We would love to speak with you about your site and how families may benefit from your donation.
Please contact our office by telephone at (970)252-9303 or by letter so that we may have further discussions.

Faith is what Habitat for Humanity was founded on. It is what has kept us a vital force in our world for 30 years now. Faith is the reason that our homes withstand disasters when others fall and crumble. Our homes are build on faith and put together with love. There is no stronger force in our universe. Habitat would not be what it is today had we not embraced people of all faiths and no faith to come together and work side by side. That is why one week out of the year will be devoted to bringing peoples of all faiths  and no faith in our community. We seek to uphold what Millard Fullers vision was when he created this great organization. We do this not as a fundraiser for Habitat, but as an opportunity to bring us all together in a way that we can learn and grow and give.

We seek donations, volunteers, and prayer support from all area congregations. At the same time, we seek to partner with congregations in ways that enhance their progress toward achieving their own goals in areas that include missions, fellowship, and leadership. We offer a wide range of opportunities for partnership for the purpose of helping congregations tailor their relationship with us to fit their particular needs and abilities.

Theology of the Hammer

Habitat created the concept known as the “The Theology of the hammer.” It is based upon the fact that Habitat has an open-door policy: all who desire to be a part of this work are welcome, regardless of religious preference or background.  People may disagree on all sorts of things, but we can agree on the idea of building homes with God’s people in need, and in doing so without profit or loans with interest.  Habitat for Humanity welcomes all people to build with us in partnership. God’s love leaves no one out, and neither do we.  This understanding brings people of many faiths and no faith from all over the world together in building more houses in more countries all the time. It is because of this, that our local affiliate has created a “Hope for Humanity through Habitat Week.”  This week is July 12-17th, where people of all faiths and no faith will come together and build side-by-side.
