Criteria For Family Selection

 

1. Need   -  After receipt of the application, (applications are taken twice a year) the Family Selection Committee will make a home visit to the applicants family.  The committee takes into consideration the size of the family, the number of rooms and condition of the house, both inside and outside, the condition of the front and back yards, the amount of rent the family pays, the family income and their inability to qualify for a conventional loan.

2. Ability to pay  -   Regular and reliable employment of at least one member of the household, adequate income to pay the low-cost mortage principle, taxes and insurance and home utilities, plus regular living expenses.  Credit rating will be checked.  The family wage earner must be a U.S. citizen or a legal resident of the United States.

3. Character  -   The family must demonstrate a commitment  to help self, family and others.  References will be solicited concerning care of property, responsibility, dependability and ability to work with others.
